Bio
I am a visual artist working in painting, drawing and collage. My work has been shown in Europe and across the U.S., including venues such as Artist's Space in New York, The Soap Factory in Minneapolis and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and The Lab in San Franicsco. I have enjoyed several residencies – including at Ucross and Jentel in Wyoming, and Recology and the Lucid Art Foundation in the Bay Area. I am the recipient of a grant from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation. I live in Grass Valley, CA with my husband.
Statement
I’m fascinated by things we can’t see. This fascination started in an elementary school science class where I looked through a microscope at a drop of pond water and was deeply awed at the new, previously hidden world I saw there. It was the first time my mind opened to the idea that there was more to “reality” than what we could see with our eyes. Since then I’ve been driven by the desire to make the invisible visible. In my mixed media works, I'm always seeking to interpret - through my own inventions - the world that lays beyond the physical. A world I believe is full of benevolent energies; animating and protecting life.
